The exposure veterans faced at war that lead them to be labeled as having a mental disorder known as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is when soldiers decided to reenlist themselves, it was said that they would be deployed to Afghanistan. However, soldiers were deployed to Kuwait at short notice after the veterans were trained for the specific area of Afghanistan (Reno, J. (2012, October 21). When soldiers are left in an unknown land with no knowledge of the resources necessary to survive it puts veterans to risky, and dangerous traumatic situations such as being victimized by an attack, stepping on trap, or knowledge of certain territory that is off sides. The second cause of PTSD on veterans is the lack of resources while at war. Not enough water, food, or even shelter is enough for every soldier at war (State of water : Vietnam.). When soldiers lack these essential needs it affects their performance during war and training. In Vietnam “shortage of water is aggravated in the 6-7 month dry sea” (State of water : Vietnam.). The final cause is the tension from pervious wars. This potentially brings tension to present wars. The root causes mainly consist of political decisions and economic support for veterans. The lack of economic support and poor decisions being made by the United States has causes a high rate of soldiers being exposed to traumatic events. When veterans come back there is still not enough economic support or help for their mental disorder, and because of this it affects their daily life in the long run. Veterans end up becoming alcoholics, violent, and lose their families.
